Our clients count on us to deliver results, and when it comes to getting things done, Matt Clarkin is the operative you want in your corner. With an extensive background running political campaigns and serving in government administration, Matt Clarkin offers our clients more than a decade of invaluable political and government expertise. At The BGill Group, Matt’s responsibilities span our political, corporate and cannabis clients, who value his political acumen and intimate knowledge of New Jersey’s complex structure of local, county and state government.
During his three-year tenure as political director of the Morris County Democratic Committee, Matt was instrumental in picking up 21 seats for local Democrats while retaining every Democratic-held seat in the county. His campaign success includes wins in red, blue, and “purple” districts. He was then selected to be Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Parsippany, where he worked collaboratively with stakeholders and constituents at all levels on a diverse range of issues. Through his public service, Matt has developed a keen understanding of the priorities and challenges of elected officials and public administrators.
As a commissioner of the Morris County Board of Elections, Matt dealt directly with the practical election issues in New Jersey. This includes votes on redistricting, the multimillion-dollar purchases of election equipment, and the statewide expansion of voting-by-mail, particularly during the 2020 election. He served as Chair of the Board from 2019 to 2020.
Matt has also held various leadership positions in the political arena, including as Chair of the Parsippany Democratic Committee, President of the Morris County Young Democrats, and various campaign roles for elected officials and candidates across the state.
Matt holds an MBA in Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a BA in Economics and Political Science from Rutgers University.
